They are equally loved and eaten in Turkey, but for some reason baklava is more famous around the world. Kataifi is like tiny and crunchy noodles made from flour and water. It is enhanced with butter, walnut or pistachio, cooked in oven until golden and then soaked in syrup so that it becomes a soft and sweet treat. It is sweet but very yummy. If you like the famous Turkish baklava, you will like this too for sure!
We would like to share an important tip when making Kataifi’s syrup:
Only one of the syrup or dessert should be hot. If both of them are hot or cold, Kataifi can’t absorb the syrup well. You can treat your guests with this delectable dessert from Turkish Kitchen. Enjoy!

Once the Kataifi baked to golden brown color, while it is still hot, put the desired amount of syrup and serve it hot. It can be topped and served with whipped cream or ice cream. For even better taste, sprinkle some ground pistachios on it.
Put 1 cup of water and 1.25 of white cane sugar into a pot. Stir it occasionally. Boil it for 5 minutes and let it cool down close to room temperature. It is better to prepare the syrup before baking the Kataifi.
Preheat oven to 430 °F. Take the Kataifi out of its plastic bag. No need to wait to unfreeze. Place it on an oven safe tray. Cook it up to 10 minutes or until golden brown. It can also be cooked on an oven top by placing on a non-stick pan and turning over until both sides are golden brown.
